Ordinary Who?

Katie. An ordinary name, for an ordinary chick.

However, that does not mean Ordinary Me is ordinary by any means.

I actually started this blog a couple years ago with posting old essays from high school. Nothing truly blog worth, but doing so, more for my own amusement then for readers.

I was born in 1990, and I attend a Christian University. I am actually a Deaf Studies and Psychology major, I started taking American Sign Language classes at the local community college while in high school and enjoyed it immensely.

I am not into Deaf Studies only because I enjoy ASL, but because I have a couple friends and a little cousin that are Deaf. I not only wish to be able to communicate with them, but participate in their culture- and trust me, the Deaf have a strong, proud culture.

I am not just a student, I also work at Tech Support for my school.

Family is extremely important to me. I had a normal family atmosphere growing up, a mom, dad and little sister. Eventually, parents divorced, and new relationships developed for both. With moms relationship my sister and I found a brother. You know the kind; annoying, younger but taller than you.

Mom, Dad, sister. Sounds small, right? I haven’t mentioned my mom or dads side of the families. With mom, we have the Young's- 15 cousins, not including aunts, uncles or the grandparents.  On dad’s side we have the Rice and Rivera families (story for another time). Combined, I honestly have too many cousins and other family members to count.

Having big extended families are always filled with drama, and craziness. There is always something new, fantastic, or depressing thing happening to someone, somewhere. The drama keeps it new and fresh- not to mention exciting. And the craziness gives me something to always laugh at.

You know how some people are outdoor, athletic people? Well, not me. I am a total bookworm. I have a full bookcase, and two boxes filled with more stacked not so neatly in my room.

I am secretly a Harry Potter fan (SHH!) and have an unhealthy obsession with HP fanfiction. And yes, I do dream about going to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando Studios.

Honestly though, reading is my thing. For me, it’s not just something to do. Reading a book is like falling into alternative universe where you can be anyone, anywhere at any time.

Ordinary or not, I’m just me.
